Hee. That ROCKED. Two awesome songs, two awesome dance/lip-sync sequences.
Stephen, we’re trying so hard not to descend into fangirly flailing, but you make it so hard to avoid!

So about this interview… how does his audience even decide what to boo and what to cheer? It makes no sense, and yet they’re unanimous every time… I don’t understand.

Hey somebody here (I think it was here) said about two months ago that they had seen Stephen walking around “the mall” somewhere in New York with his painting. It is true. They were shooting that for part of the show. I thought so.

Yay! Dancing Stephen! Ditto on the Lincoln hat joke, and the look on the Smithsonian Director’s face, just hysterical.

i agree… a nightly half-hour of stephen dancing would do wonders for the world.

I feel like I remember Stephen on another show where he danced at the end of almost every episode!?!? Maybe that was a dream?

TruthPower, that original tip about Stephen walking on the Mall was indeed here at NFZ:

Lindsey, you’re thinking of Stephen’s earlier series “Strangers with Candy.” A dance sequence at the end of every show — what a great idea! And a clock-gobbler!

Lindsey–that show is (the wonderful) Strangers with Candy. One of the extras on the DVD is all of the dance sequences spliced together; quite heavenly.
Olivia–I’ve been to several tapings and Mark, the stage manager, has always proudly made the point that TCR has no applause signs. All the audience reactions are natural–it is amazing that everyone has the same reaction simultaneously, isn’t it?
Another great segment–how does he come up with these routines? They’re fabulous and seem utterly spontaneous. I chuckled when the guy from the Smithsonian “moved on” over the “Friend of Dorothy” comment.

This is off topic, but it’s a fun little tidbit: Countdown with Keith Olbermann (MSNBC) has a nightly segment called Winners and Losers, and Stephen was Thursday’s winner for being chosen as Mike Huckabee’s running mate.
They ran a clip from the Huckabee interview on Wednesday’s TCR showing Stephen offering to let Huckabee off the hook, then Huckabee asking him again to be his running mate and Stephen enthusiastically accepting. Very cute.

And, oh, yes, I’m loving all the dancing that Stephen is doing and hoping there’ll be more. :)

Who was it that said a week ago that he should do SWC-like dance parties every episode? I think they might have called this one!

*swoons* It’s like Christmas in January — and how in the world did the museum director hold a straight face while Stephen danced? If they got it all in one take, I’d be truly impressed.
(P.S.–Can I just say how I love the “Urgent Fangirl Bulletins?” So appropriate!)

@Lisa:
If you watch it again (oh, I’ve watched it a few times), you can see that the museum director is bouncing on his feet a little by the end (which for him probably qualifies as “getting down!”). Somehow that makes me giggle…
