SIX DEGREES: He’s livin’ in IKEAAAAAAA!

Holy Lingonberry Soda! Mark Malkoff (audience coordinator, The Colbert Report) has launched his latest performance art project, and gives us more insight into his plans on his website, MarkLivesinIkea.com:

Mark moved in early morning Monday January 7th to the IKEA in Paramus, New Jersey and will stay for the week through Saturday January 12th. Every day people can watch a video recap of his day. He will be living in IKEA 24/7 and eating all his meals in the restaurant (he may order Domino’s take out once or twice). Thankfully they have a shower for him in the back offices.

You know, if I lived in Ikea, I wouldn’t have to order pizza once. I absolutely love their cafeteria. Mmm …. swedish meatballs and red potatoes. Sometimes we drive up to Frisco, Oklahoma simply to visit the Ikea cafeteria. He’s a lucky, lucky man.

Mark also has these instructions for people in the NYC area who might want to visit him:

VISIT MARK AT IKEA
NJ Transit bus line: The 163 bus leaves Port Authority in New York City from gate 224 almost every hour and goes directly to IKEA in Paramus, NJ. Make sure you verify with the driver when boarding. Buses depart IKEA back to Port Authority almost every hour. For a complete schedule go to the link below and then go to the 163 bus:

New Jersey Transit 163 Bus Schedule

Address:
IKEA
100 IKEA Dr.100 IKEA Dr.
Paramus, NJ 07652

And finally, he’s put up his first video! Good luck, Mark, and Godspeed!

EDIT:
From Metafilter – “Living in a big box store: Comedian Mark Malkoff gave the world Li’l Gn’R, he took the Starbucks challenge, and today, he moves into IKEA in Paramus, N.J., for one week. (This is also news in Sweden.)”

TDS and TCR writers will be on WBUR (Boston’s NPR station) at 10:00 AM est to talk about Campaign ’08. I don’t know how else to get this message out so I’m posting here.

  4. Hilarious! Love the first video. Can’t wait for more.

Is it too much to hope that Stephen might have Mark on as a guest after his adventure concludes? He wouldn’t have to cross a picket line (that he wouldn’t already be crossing…)

Thanks for the link to the Swedish site! Too funny.

Stephen should so have Mark as a guest–I don’t know why he hasn’t done so already. I’m glad to see a bit of his latest project, I really love his work.

How is there an Ikea in Oklahoma, but not upstate NY? *shakes fist toward Sweden*

It’s a joke for the Texans – Frisco is so far north of the DFW Metroplex that it’s an inside joke that Frisco is almost Oklahoma. So the locals call it Frisco, Oklahoma instead of Frisco, TX.

Get it? HAHAHAH! I’m a riot!!
