Operation Superstantial Truthiness Phase IV – Call Viacom

Colbert Report fans support the writersThe WGA_Supporters LJ group is focusing this week’s support of the striking writers towards Viacom. While we, the No Fact Zone staff, are looking forward to the return of TDS and TCR, we are also very aware that the show will not be truly back until the WGA has made a fair deal and the TDS and TCR writing teams are back to doing what they do best. Here’s the WGA Supporter’s recommended course of action for the week, courtesy of community leader vdovault:

The action item for this week for the [WGA_Supporters] LJ community is to call Viacom and express our displeasure at the untenable position it has put Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert into. We can all agree to support Jon and Jay as WGA writers, heck it was great of them to be putting out so much effort to keep the non-writing staffs of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report paid by Viacom while they stayed out on strike with the writers for as long as they could.

So please call the following number Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm Eastern time for Viacom any day this week you can. Leave messages for Phillipe Dauman letting him know that you support Stephen and Jon as WGA writers but are displeased that they have been forced back to work without their writers and that you would feel more comfortable watching their shows and buying the products and services that are running advertising spots (not to mention buying Viacom and Comedy Central products) if only they would make fair deals with the WGA writers just like Worldwide Pants did for David Letterman’s show and Craig Ferguson’s (whose shows you feel good about watching and whose sponsors products and services you will strongly consider buying).

You can and should leave the usual name, gender, age range (for example at 38 I fall into the highly sought after 18-49 and 25-44 age groups), an approximate range for your household income (they especially love to hear from people whose household income is $75,000 or more a year, so if you fit that description, say so!), the cable company or satellite company you get Comedy Central from (for me it’s Dish TV) and city and state where you live.

If you also support other shows on Comedy Central or made by Viacom feel free to mention those shows in your call as well.

Happy dialing!

I got a hold of Dauman’s secretary and she said she’s “pass on” the message, but alas no voicemail.
