Two down: The New York Observer is reporting that Naomi Klein (Canadian author, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism) has also turned down an invitation to be guest on “The Colbert Report.” It was announced yesterday that Katrina vanden Heuvel (editor of The Nation) was a no-go as well due to the strike.
“The Colbert Report” gets another No from potential guest

It occurs to me that all the potential guests declining to appear on TCR/TDS are making more of a statement of support for the striking writers than the hosts are able to make, due to circumstances beyond their control. I’m sure this is very frustrating to Jon and Stephen, but if their hands are tied, and their mouths are stopped, due to contractual constraints with the network, perhaps the paucity of guests willing to cross the picket lines will make their points for them.

I hear the author of The Orgasmic Diet is willing to cross picket lines! ;)

Well, he could always go around filming things and crawling on catwalks like Conan has been doing…the best shows ever!!

@Eris – I laughed out loud at that! :D

I can’t even bare to watch…
You’d think this would make a statement to Viacom, but if the numbers are back up when both shows come back, they won’t care how their hosts flounder. It’s all about The Almighty Dollar. Being that Jon and Stephen are already in a tough spot, this doesn’t help much at all.
On a brighter note, nice plug:
The No Fact Zone, an encyclopedic blog about all things Colbert, has kept an ongoing list of guests who reportedly will be appearing on Mr. Colbert’s show, when it returns.

Well, that’s only two that have been reported. And I agree with Fifi that Stephen could go around filming things or walking on catwalks or whatever. He’d be brilliant! :)

Stephen could read the phone book and he’d be brilliant. Or, y’know, maybe I’m just Colbert-deprived and I’m losing it just a little.
@ Eris: Have you no shame??? ;-) (I LOL’ed, I admit it.)
