Six Degrees: Ben Karlin’s book hits the stores in February

Since it’s never too soon to start a marketing blitz (for anything other than a Presidential election, that is), it seems like the time is ripe to remind people that Ben Karlin’s book, Things I’ve Learned From Women Who’ve Dumped Me, is set to hit the shelves in just one month.

From the Baxojayz – Centricity blog:

Start the New Year with Laughs from Ben Karlin!!!

What could be a better way to start 2008 than with some laughs from Ben Karlin, Emmy award-winning former executive producer of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report?

. . .

This anthology is comprised of longer and shorter pieces, drawn from an array of impressive celebrities, writers and public figures. This is not a touchy-feely book. This is not a self-help book. This is a book packed with smart, funny and insightful stories from men you probably thought never got dumped, or if they did, would never admit it.

Things I’ve Learned from Women Who’ve Dumped Me officially hits store on February 4, 2008 – just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Click on the picture for a fuller list of the contributors to Ben’s book. I have to admit, Stephen Colbert’s contribution is probably incentive enough for me to buy it, but Dan Savage and Larry Wilmore, et al, are draws, too.

Proof positive that THESE writers have heart!

Intrigued? There’s a bit more info from the Grand Central Publishing catalogue, as we reported here last year. And both the book and the audiobook are available for pre-order on Amazon.com!

There are quite a few people there that make me want it. But I don’t see Jon’s name anywhere…?

  2. Ms Interpreted says:

Shoot, you’re right, Erin. I should take his name off for now. If you look at our older post (from the catalogue), he was listed as providing the introduction; evidently, Nick Hornby will be doing this instead of Jon. I’m not sure whether Jon is still involved, but I’ll take his name off the post until we get more info.

I’m really looking forward to this (the audiobook is particularly intriguing. I’ve preordered (through NFZ, natch).

I’d love to read Ben and Stephen’s contributions. I bet Stephen mentions the girl who gave him the ultimatum (after three years of no sex, apparently, too!)

    What woman dumped Dan Savage?

    What’s this, now?

@truthiness: I believe the fan who made that taping report was later corrected by her mother. It was more something like 3 months or weeks, iirc.

@truth: It’s from a taping report, from a pre-show Q&A. The story about the girlfriend who said Stephen either had to propose to her or it was over.

I liked the previous, drawing-style cover more. Nevetheless! Greatly looking forward to reading this.

@ truth: Maybe someone who finally realized he was gay? :)
