Yay! A happy item to blog about! (These are in short supply nowadays, as you all know.) From MSN.com, a familiar face on their “11 Most Influential Men of 2007” list:

Whether it’s celebrating his own ice cream (Ben & Jerry’s AmeriCone Dream), introducing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards (“And while I may disagree with everything she stands for, I will defend to the death her right to make it work …”), presenting at the Emmy Awards with a leaf blower powered by “Al Gore’s tears,” or writing I Am America (And So Can You), Stephen Colbert has turned political satire into a grassroots movement for fixing our country. (He also tried to run for president this year but only in South Carolina, and they wouldn’t even let him on the ballot). Most of the time it’s hard to believe a word he says, but who cares? With Colbert you never know if you’re getting the comedian, actor, writer, pseudo-pundit, or all of the above.

I looked at the slideshow… and while I can agree with most of it, can I just say WTF @ Perez Hilton and Tim Gunn placing higher than Colbert!??!!!1111 WTF @ Perez Hilton being on the list at all!

Did anyone look at the 11 Most Influential Women list? I had quite a few WTF moments with that one. Definitely glad Colbert was on the men’s list and with such a great picture too!

I just did after you mentioned it. A bunch of teenage singers are being deemed more influential than a presidential candidate? I haven’t even heard of some of these people.

Yeah the women’s list is kind of bad…especially the first few singer people (or whoever they are)and Elizabeth Hasselbetch. With that crowd, I can’t belive Miss South Carolina didn’t make the list.

I’m hoping they did 11 in honor of This is Spinal Tap and Nigel’s guitar going to 11, but I don’t care about their reason: I’m just thrilled to have Stephen with his handsome smiling face help make the end of 2007 more pleasurable. Loved Stephen and Jon’s quote “We would like to return to work with our writers. If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence, but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence.” Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. We need them, desperately.
