Not helping our workday productivity: the DC Smackdown video game

Yes, it’s just what you’ve been waiting for: a video game featuring politicians and pundits. There are seventeen characters to choose from, including Jon Stewart, Keith Olbermann, and Ann Coulter. The politicians include Al Gore, Bill Clinton, George Bush, and a selection of the 2008 presidential candidates.

You can download it from the DC Smackdown Demo website. I haven’t been able to try the demo yet, but it looks like you could waste an afternoon on it… just sayin’. While you’re there, take a look at each character’s profile image (reminiscent of the JibJab animations) – and check out the description of Jon’s ‘primary attack’.

PC Game Skewers Politicians Even-Handedly

If you’re tired of watching Mitt and Mike, Hilary and Rudy, and Colbert and Coulter limit their swipes to words, pick one and go for it in the new video game “DC Smackdown.”

Featuring signature moves like the “Intern Trample,” “Mormon Conversion” and “Barack Your World,” the 17-character game skewers bipartisanly. A pantsless Bill Clinton chases a herd of Monica Lewinskys, Jesse Jackson hurls Hasidic Jews and Anne Coulter has a special “verbal diarrhea” attack.

“Glen Beck started becoming more popular, so we switched him with Sean Hannity,” [creator Dave Holbrook] said. “We almost had Stephen Colbert in there, but we chose (Jon) Stewart. (Colbert) is in the game, though — he’s actually Jon Stewart’s attack. He throws Stephen Colbert.”

*Almost* had Colbert? Well, just the fact that something like this even exists is good enough for me.

But, what is this “Mac version coming soon”? Arg.

You can see Jon do the “Colbert Toss” attack briefly at the end of the demo video clip.

I don’t usually like these fighting games, but getting the chance to beat up Ann Coulter or Bill O’Reilly… and to do it as Jon Stewart or Keith Olbermann – HA!

I see that they have left the mac user out of the debate
