Thanks so much to Shira, Heather, Caitlin, Kelly, Illyse, and Sharan and Ken (all the way from CT – Whoot!) who made it to the rally! Our crew wore signs and stickers proudly showing their support for the Colbert Report and Daily Show writers. They handed out trail mix, granola bars, and other healthy snacks, and making sure that with each treat came the greeting “Courtesy of fans of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.”
Here’s a mini-report from Shira:
I first met up with Heather, Caitlin and Kelly at the Starbucks. We labeled ourselves and our goodies and then joined the crowd in Washington Square Park. After wandering around a bit we spotted Peter Grosz in a small clump of people right in front of us. I think he noticed the fans4writers-type placards on the stickers we were wearing and I took this as an opportunity to offer him a pack of trail mix. When he saw the Colbert sticker on it he said, “Hey, I work for this show.” (Duh!) He also noticed the NFZ logo and asked if we were affiliated, which we proudly acknowledged. He thanked us for the goodies and said he’d hang on to it for later. Success! We toddled away pretty happy with ourselves. We’d fed a writer.
