Which books have influenced your political philosophy?
I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert and The Thumpin’ by Rahm Emanuel [D-Ill.].

I give Rep. Kingston credit, as he was Stephen’s first BKAD interviewee, but should I take that seriously? I mean, it did follow this question-and-answer: “What’s your guilty-pleasure read? Rep. Thaddeus McCotter’s [R-Mich.] e-mails.” And just what does he mean by “influenced”? Hmmmm . . .

At any rate, I suppose we can thank Rep. Kingston for his contribution to the strong sales of I Am America (And So Can You!). In fact, the numbers for Stephen’s, er, humble paean to his country have been so good, Forbes partially attributes Barnes & Noble’s better-than-expected quarterly earnings to them. Way to go, Rep. Kingston and members of the Colbert Nation!
