Tom Richmond’s MAD blog announced that the latest issue of MAD magazine (Issue 484) is available at news stands and features a piece about ‘The Colbert Report’ (although Lindsey, Nicole, Paris, and Brittney made the cover).
Hat tip to Sharon D for the b*w scans in PDF of the “article” “MAD Magazine Deconstructs TV Talk Shows: The Colbert Report”. Love the shout-out to Stephen’s shout-out to Al Jafe. Someone at MAD’s been watching the show!
Remember to pick up the latest issue to see it in its full colour glory!
I was going to mention that I read it the other day. I will say I’m not a huge fan of either Jon or Stephen’s caricatures in it…but, that’s just me. Otherwise, it is, definitely, satire of the satirists.
Say that 3 times fast…

It’s been many many years since I was a regular reader of MAD. I have to say this is the first time I’ve seen a the parodied subject come away from the MAD treatment pretty much intact.

That had some funny things. I liked their suggestions for words in the opening credits: “pluribus” and “axolotl” and the shot of the Iraqi names on the teleprompter. Sigh, not so much a satire as an homage, which was another nice fix during the strike.

Aw! That kind of made me sad.
I don’t think Colbert pretends to be a hardcore liberal pretending to be a conservative, but I think a lot of people imagine him that way.
I don’t.
I imagine he’s a robot. A magic one.

I’m not a fan of the caricatures either. Of course, considering I don’t think there’s one caricature I’ve seen of them that I’ve liked, maybe I just don’t like caricatures.

@Gaia Faye
Ya know what it is? They’re both such good-looking men that caricatures don’t do them any justice.
