Six Degrees: Peter Gwinn, Jay Katsir, et al, report from the picket line

Voices of the Writers Strike
by Richard HakeNEW YORK, NY November 09, 2007 —Missing your favorite television show? The major networks are expected to announce in the coming days alternative programming as the writer’s strike enters its 5th day. Some shows have ceased production while others have stockpiled scripts, but those too can be affected if the strike goes on much longer.
We visited a picket line across the street from where Law & Order is taped at Chelsea Piers. That’s where we found this group of comedy writers. WNYC’s Richard Hake asked these writers what it’s like to take a break from scanning the papers each morning and making fun of what’s in the news.
You heard writers from Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock and the Colbert Report talking with WNYC’s Richard Hake on the picket line. The main sticking point between the writers and producers is payment from DVD sales and the rights to show programs on the internet. No new talks have been scheduled.

Thank you, Ms Interpreted, for posting this interview. It’s nice to hear a word or two from the writers’ themselves. And a double “YEY!” for a few words from a TCR writer; these folks who desperately miss their jobs (not simply because they’re missing paychecks) because they love them so much are an inspiration. I can only wish that same happiness to everyone in their own jobs, myself included.
WE MISS YOU, WRITERS!!!
