Ed Helms joined the picket line on Monday, in a photo taken by flickr user ricksterbot here.
And fellow Office star Steve Carell was profiled in this month’s Hockey News Magazine after attending an L.A. Kings game. The full scan is here, thanks to pamcasso, with a quote below:
The Hockey News: Your friend Stephen Colbert has also worked the hockey world into his hit show, by convincing a major junior league team in the Ontario League (the Saginaw Spirit) to name its mascot after him.
SC: Really? I didn’t know that. See, that guy is so smart. He’s very media-savvy, and he’s always working some angle. What’s the name of the mascot?
THN: I believe it’s Steagle Colbeagle The Eagle.
SC: (laughing) That’s the dumbest thing ever. That’s so good.
Back on the East coast, Eric Drysdale (“Bobby”) plays his part on the picket line, chanting “Hey, hey, ho, ho, management can’t write that show”.

AS I left the line for work this morning, Chris Noth (L&O) was being interviewed.

I signed that petition and support the writers 100%. Thanks for giving the best TCR and TDS coverage.
So is anyone else wondering where Jon and Stephen ARE? We’ve seen Larry Wilmore, Ed Helms, John Oliver, “Bobby” Eric Drysdale, Head writer of TDS Steve, and Bodow other writers.
Tina Fey, Jay Leno, Letterman, Seth Myers, etc, etc, etc, have all done so. I wonder if they’ll make it down there.

Either as writers who have joined the strike, or as executive producers whose writers are on strike, Stewart and Colbert have chosen to not publicly comment on the situation.
I don’t have an educated guess as to why, but their silence is fine with me. Their current professional situation speaks for itself. There’s no reason why they should have to state for the media their privately-held views.

laughing at nothing…
They are in a tough spot both as writers and producers — I have a feeling their lawyers may be advising them not to because of their influential nature. But still…Stephen is a writer too. This must be killing them…
The only mention of the strike that I’ve seen so far was in his introduction to Nancy Pelosi at the Glamour awards ceremony (for which there is a posted a video here on NoFactZone — you MUST see it!), when he says something to the effect of, “My jokes are usually funnier, but all of my writers are on strike.” I think that’s as far as he’ll go, for now.
If, God willing, I get in, I will tell him personally on Sunday (at a book signing) how desperately we all miss them all at TCR.
