Hmmm. What does it mean that the moguls are meeting, but only with each other (not the WGA)?
EXCLUSIVE: Hollywood Moguls Meet This Weekend But Nix Villaraigosa To Mediate
Posted by Nikki Finke on Friday, November 2nd, 2007I’ve just learned that Hollywood’s Big Media moguls are planning to meet this weekend about the WGA strike set to start Monday. But insiders tell me that the studio and network bigwigs have “flat out rejected” Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s offer to mediate this weekend despite the WGA’s desire for him to intervene. The moguls also rejected an offer to sit down with the guild’s leadership this weekend. “The CEOs are unwilling to even join the discussion at the bargaining table at all this weekend or ever,” the source maintains. “The only meeting they are willing to attend is one amongst themselves.” Instead, I’m told the moguls will continue to rely on their hired guns, namely AMPTP president Nick Counter, to maintain their hardline bargaining position.
UPDATE: A federal mediator has called a meeting with both sides for Sunday morning, according to The New York Times and Deadline Hollywood Daily.

Just as an update, I had tickets to the show on Monday, and I have received official word that the show is cancelled. I will NOT (emphasis theirs) receive replacement tickets, so woe is me, and the nation, though slightly more me.

Doesn’t sound like it means anything good, that’s for sure. Also:
UPDATE: I’ve just learned that the federal mediator has called the parties together for a meeting on Sunday at 10 am.
