You may have noticed while watching the footage of Stephen’s campaign stop in Columbia that he mentioned having campaigned on Saturday in Charleston. I thought this was an odd statement to make, as the only scheduled campaign stop in Charleston that we’d heard about was the “Rock the Vote” event that was cancelled on Thursday. Was the Colbert campaign playing a little fast and loose with the facts (of which we all know “Stephen” is not a fan)?
Perhaps not. I noticed this little tidbit in the Charleston City Paper today:
Colbert Films in Charleston, Takes on Edwards
Presidential candidate (in South Carolina) Stephen Colbert may have canceled a campaign stop in town yesterday, but I heard that he was filming a segment for his show at Sticky Fingers on Saturday night.
Has Stephen gone to visit his old portrait? Time will tell . . .

I believe he said (in the clip of him accepting the keys to the city…whichever city it was, lol) that he had stopped by Charleston to record part of his show….something like that.

@ Mira,
I was referring to the part where he said, “Over the past 18 hours, this campaign has gone everywhere in this state, from Charleston to Columbia. And let me tell you, I’m down in Charleston yesterday, let me tell you; I now feel the same way about South Carolina shrimp that [sic] I do about South Carolina peaches.”
I think you’re thinking of the part where he later said, “Look for me to return to South Carolina in January, when I will be broadcasting my show from Charleston nearly live . . .” That’s the road trip we first reported back in July. We’re very excited about it!
