TiVo Alert! Stephen Colbert to appear on ‘Meet the Press’ this Sunday
ByOur good friend Rachel Sklar over at HuffPo has the scoop: Stephen Colbert continues his media blitz this Sunday with Tim Russert (as played by a pumpkin):
Stephen Colbert On “Meet The Press” This Sunday
Huffington Post | Rachel Sklar | October 17, 2007 06:57 PMNBC has confirmed that Stephen Colbert will appear on this week’s “Meet The Press” with Tim Russert to discuss his book, I Am America (And So Can You!), which he seems to be threatening to promote by running for president. Also appearing with Colbert will apparently be other comics including Jay Leno, Mark Russell and Steve Bridges — yes, that Steve Bridges, the President Bush impersonator whom Colbert last appeared with at that infamous White House Correspondents Dinner. We’re not entirely sure what’s planned, but we’re always pleased when politics, media and comedy intersect. One small nit, though: Why no funny women? Amy Poehler who does a mean Hillary? Kirsten Wiig as Pelosi? We’re just saying. (We know, so out of character!) Okay, see you Sunday. P.S. If you want to sleep in, go ahead — we hear it’ll be at the end of the show.
Sweet! Even better news (for me, anyway), the Meet the Press page contains this nugget of information:
New time for Meet the Press re-broadcast
Please note that effective last Sunday, Meet the Press is re-broadcast on MSNBC-TV Sunday night at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and again at 2 a.m. ET/11 p.m. PT.
UPDATE AND CORRECTION: Stephen will be the ONLY comedian appearing on this Sunday’s Meet the Press. Sorry for the confusion, folks, but props to the folks over at “Eat the Press” for catching their error quickly. (And props to Jennie, too, for passing along the info!)
