The Craziest F#@king Thing I Ever Heard
ByI don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been sweating bullets since about 11:45p last night.
Here’s the situation. It’s complicated but my web hosting account should NOT have been suspended. My hosting service sent me a suspension notice last month, after I had already been debited that money from my bank account. They reran my card to make sure I had paid, but since I already had paid, I basically paid an extra month’s worth of hosting, and should have had credit with the company and owed nothing for the month of October.
I got a suspend notice on Sunday, because I’m guessing they’re having the same issues that they had last month, and called my hosting service first thing Monday morning, and again Monday afternoon, and again Tuesday afternoon trying to resolve the issue. Since it seems impossible to get a live person with the company lately, I left three separate voice mails. I also put in a trouble ticket on their web site, and updated it about 15 minutes before the site went down. Over the course of the past three days I have called the billing department of the company at least a dozen times and left three voice mail messages and two trouble tickets about this issue and had NOT been contacted.
After the site went down last night, I sent an e-mail to technical support because my host’s site was down for OVER AN HOUR and I could not send ANY type of trouble ticket or communication to Technical Support or billing. I was hoping by sending an e-mail to technical support (since I couldn’t put in a ticket because their FRIGGIN’ SITE WAS DOWN!) that I could at least get my site temporarily up until I could get this issue resolved with billing. Apparently I was wrong.
This morning, after going back and forth with Technical Support (the only people I could get a hold of), we got the site back up and it only took three days, two dozen calls, five voice mail messages, six responses via tickets, and a massive loss of sleep last night to resolve.
I am seriously considering switching hosting companies after this catastrophic failure of customer service – any suggestions?
p.s. Considering the technical difficulties I had last night, I find my last post before the crash terribly ironic.

Condolences all ’round. My site is down at the moment but the hosting service is reporting a server down, so that might be it. Glad to see you’re back up. Just got my book/audiobook from Amazon today. Woohoo!! Love the piracy notice on the audiobook.

I tried to log on last night, saw that error message and screeched! So glad it was cleared up–I gots to have my NFZ. I’d seriously consider changing hosting companies after such a bad experience. So glad you’re back online this morning though!

Do you back up this site on a regular basis, just in case something happens to permanently delete it?

most companies have been ignoring customer service over other more ‘profitable’ issues, so i am not surprise. I believe the only way they will notice if they ‘lost’ another customer…

WHEW. That was traumatic, but I’m so glad the site got through it okay!

Sorry to hear about your site problems. I switched JSX three times until I found a host with the sort of bandwidth I needed. Yes it does go down from time to time, but that’s only the message board and not the site proper.
Good luck with your new hosts – they sound like a cool bunch.
