WristSTRONG sightings: Kamala Harris and Salman Rushdie

By Ms Interpreted on September 29th, 2007 ·

Craig Newmark, tireless advocate for wrist strength, strikes again. As we noted a couple days ago, Mr. Newmark was seen raising Salman Rushdie’s wrist strength at a dinner for Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution. Earlier today, he posted a photo commemorating the occasion on his blog:

Of course, we’ve seen by now that Mr. Newmark wants everyone to be alert to the issue of wrist strength, and he’s promoting the issue far and wide. Kamala Harris, San Francisco District Attorney, is yet another of his converts to the cause.

We here at No Fact Zone salute your noble efforts on behalf of Stephen’s WristSTRONG campaign, Mr. Newmark. Inspiring stuff!

Hey, you know what’s an unrelated but rather creepy coincidence? Within the Indiana University network on Facebook, if you search no fact zone the first result’s name is Josh Colbert. He doesn’t mention NFZ, the words are randomly interspersed on his profile page and he never once mentions Stephen, so it’s entirely coincidental. That was just weird.

@WordsWithGrace: and thanks from all of us for leaving the nice thank-you to Craig on his blog!

Question: does anyone know whether the ‘protocol’ in these pass-’em-up the-fame-pyramid hand-offs includes any actual donations from the said famous folk? I’m only asking because, although the YRF posted a streaming headline on their site when Stephen’s cast was sold, they are not posting contributions rolling in from the continuing WristSTRONG campaign. (Obviously, they’ve got better things to do, but it would be cool to know how much Stephen’s fans are raising).

Here’s a fact that sort of puts this in perspective. According to the YRF’s website, they’ve raised just under 1 million dollars in TWO YEARS. On the other hand, when a group of pro-war military families wanted to go to D.C. a while back to lobby for a ’stay the course’ strategy, a group of ‘patriot Americans’ (so described by NPR) raised half a million dollars for their junket. Pretty twisted priorities, if you ask me.
