WristSTRONG sightings: HuffPo’s Arianna Huffington and Wikipedia’s Jimmy Wales

The “Wrist Watch” continues, and I’ve got to say, Craigslist guru Craig Newmark needs to be named as some sort of ambassador of wrist strength, pronto (I’m sure Stephen can come up with a better job title). In addition to sporting his own WristSTRONG bracelet with pride and ensuring that the BBC’s Richard Sambrook took up the cause, he’s also enlisted the aid of Wikipedia founder and fellow friend of the show, Jimmy Wales:

Jimmy Wales from Wikipedia shows wrist injury awareness

Jimmy and Louise McBain Blouin, at OneWebDay. Jimmy’s much more famed than me, so I was obliged, by Colbert rules, to give him my WristStrong bracelet.

(I have spares.)

(the gf still refuses to give me hers, per rules.)

Mr. Newmark also brings us tidings of another friend of The Report who was seen raising wrist awareness, the fabulous Arianna Huffington (internal link omitted, for obvious reasons):

Arianna supports WristStrong at OneVoice bloggers’ event

arianna

(yes, a bad photo)

She made a reference to my “gorgeous” gf, which is true, but… I still haven’t gotten the wristband from her.

also, the No Fact Zone picked up my giving a wrist band to Richard Sambrook who runs BBC World Service, which I listen to a lot, like now.

All that, and a shout out to NFZ, too? Thanks, Mr. Newmark!

(By the way, there are a more pics of Arianna and the OneVoice event here.)

Boo-yah!! I just got my WristSTRONG bracelet in the mail. I’m not giving mine up to anyone–but I pledge to:

    (1) Make a donation to the Yellow Ribbon Fund every month, both by writing a check and buying a couple more bracelets. (As I wrote in a previous comment, we could now use ‘WristSTRONG’ as a mnemonic for ‘Walter Reed Injured Still There, Send Them Regularly Our Nation’s Gratitude.’

    (2) Tell anyone that asks about the bracelet I’m wearing about the TYF website, and remind them of the plight of the soldiers.

    (3) Pursue bracelet in hand some of the famous folk who have appeared on TCR who work at the ‘bitch goddess’ (TradeMark: Jon Stewart) university in my town. Peter Singer, Elaine Pagels, Anne-Marie Slaughter–we’re coming for you!

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0
