ColbertNation.com election coverage

By DB on September 14th, 2007 ·

The votes thus far (as of 7:39a CST):

    Total Votes – 180

    DB Ferguson/AegisKnight – 104
    Noodle – 59
    Gary – 3
    No Vote/ Dup Vote/Other – 14

I just want to thank all of you who have shown such overwhelming support for myself, for AegisKnight, and most importantly, to the staff at NoFactZone.net during this election process. I don’t know what’s going to happen today – Avery might go by the numbers, or it’s entirely possible (and some say even probable) Avery might decide to go in a “different direction” as they say. But no matter what happens, we’ve fought the good fight, and we’ve had a ton of fun with this thing.

We’ve gotten to see that NoFactZone.net readers are good people, and that they truly appreciate the work that we do here. I know I do. This morning, I got up (groggy, because AGAIN I stayed up too late politicking), and looked on the blog, and it was so cool – there was so much new great stuff, and it was like getting to be a “reader” of NFZ instead of one of the worker bees. My staff finds some really good stuff and writes some amazing stories, and I was really hit today with the fact that I am so proud of the work that we all do every day. We do a good blog, and there’s absolutely no way I could do this without the work of my staff. So I’d like to say a very public Thank You to MsInterpreted, Jennie, WordsWithGrace, Kinaesthesia, and TheLakeEffect.

I’d also like to say a huge thank you to all of our readers who send us in tips and links, and to the readers who give us such great feedback in the comments. Although the staff is the one who blogs, it’s the comments and feedback that really bring this blog alive and make me realize that while I do this blog simply for my own sanity, we are grateful that the work is appreciated by so many different people.

I guess that’s it for now. So now we wait.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Stephen. Now, normally at this point at what we affectionately call a “Navel Gazing” post, for tolerating with us talking about ourselves instead of talking about Stephen we bring out my very favorite picture. You know the one. But we’ve had a bit of a Favorite Picture Coup with the publishing of the Vanity Fair article. Because dear God, did you *see* the pic? But since the beginning of this blog, we’ve embraced the Chair picture because it embodies all that is good and right with the world. We’ve hit a bit of a crossroads. We’re not above changing things up, but we’ve also got a deep seeded faith in the traditions of this blog, and the Chair picture has been a fixture from the beginning. But dear God, did you *see* the Vanity Fair pic? We just don’t know what to do.

So we’re taking it to the masses – which picture should we go with for the “reward” picture? A (for Tradition) or B (for sheer hotness)?

A.

B.

Im all for tradition, but that second pic is HAWT!!

B.

And you don’t need to thank us DB, you guys are the ones who do so much work to bring us all this glory, we just enjoy the opportunity to thank you for it like this.

Oh dear. I’m so conflicted.
If I keep pic B as my background and you reward us with pic A, it’ll be doubly good plus honoring tradition. So perhaps that.

I hate choosing – I say A and B side by side.

I agree with Jennie….both!

I’m going with Jennie and Heather… why limit yourself to just one? Wouldn’t Stephen want us all to enjoy as *much* of him as we can get? Something tells me that the painting(s) above his fireplace indicate what the correct choice is…

A is ok but you can’t see his face properly. B wins by far, it just makes me melt into a little puddle.

Awww, thanks for the virtual pat on the back, DB. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t fun for me, so a big thanks to the NFZ community for making this such a great place to hang out.

And as for the pics . . . I rather like B, as it’s so unassuming. But I have no objection to A, either!

I vote B B B!

Definitely B. Tradition is good, but change is good too !

Another vote for B.

Because, well, I…kinda…never… really liked A. Blasphemous, I know!

I have to go with B. That picture sent my friend, who was teetering on the brink of fangirlism, over the edge. In a good way.

Both both both!

But on pain of death – B.

tradition is all well and good, but seriously, B. seriously.

Golly gee! Both pictures are so swell. They’re both great.

That being said, I’m going with picture B. A seems staged, but B seems more natural.

Maybe B because it is so new & hot! But also A for those days when we just need to sit back, relax & reflect :-)

Also, add my thanks to the whole staff for making this such a great blog – you guys are the bomb, you pwn colbertnation.com! (Isn’t that what the kids say?)

So, I already commented, but this comment has nothing to do with the post. It’s a love letter to all those who made it possible for me to have the blad, which is in my possession right now.

WordswithGrace, DB, Colbert Univsersity, NoFactZone…you are all amazing.

I LOVE EVERYONE! (Wow, I’m in some sort of euphoric state…)

Ahh!

@Heather:
Yay! Glad the blad made its way back across the country to you.

Jennie, Heather, you can’t pick both. Pick a side, we’re at war!!!

I pick B. OMF, B….

My sister! My daughter! My sister! My daughter!

I’m not sure if this will work but how about this (made by someone who actually has photoediting tools so it doesn’t look as crappy as this does): http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j100/gggifford2003/?action=view&current=stephencomposite.jpg

Then we wouldn’t have to choose!

If we did have to make a choice I’d go for the chair photo because I’m a traditionalist.

Yes, B. And I’m with Katie on the staging factor.

A is to B as a peepshow is to a visit from a high-class D.C. call girl.

I’m not quite satisfied with that analogy…anyone want to help me out?

I vote for B as well, although it’s a tough call.

And, by the way, thank you for all you guys do! You definitely deserve to win.

22

I’m traditional – I’ll go with A.

And congrats on basically winning (though it may not be official yet)!!

Reply

A. because it’s perfect
B. because it’s perfect

Oh god, I can’t decide.

I vote B! BBBB!!!! *still waiting for my darn VF to arrive, grrrr!*

@entropy.

My Vanity Fair just came in the mail yesterday. I feel your pain.
But, rest assured, it will be worth the wait!

oh, and I vote for B(but I think they are both wonderful!)

Reply

B, absolutely. After all, it’s the real Stephen we adore, not his character. And the composite doesn’t do justice to either picture.

@Sadie07,
I’m so glad you got yours, and feel a little better that mine might actually show up in this lifetime, lol. ;)

I never realized waiting for a magazine could be so painful!

Hi y’all . . . love the blog. Congrats on everything! I vote for B.

B! You can’t escape those eyes. Look at ‘em, they’re starin’ you down!

I happened to stumble upon this post while looking for something else, and, the hotness encompassed by these two photos is truly incomprehensible. Though I’d hate to only choose one, I’d have to go with B. Those eyes take my breath away… *sigh*
