Amy Sedaris will be one of the guests at Bookmarks, which is coming Sept. 8 to Historic BethabaraAmy Sedaris has come up with a new genre of book – a bathroom book for the kitchen.
You can open up I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence anywhere and spend a few minutes looking at photographs – always luscious-looking and sometimes funny – or reading nuggets of hospitality “wisdom.”

Sedaris, who will be in Winston-Salem Sept. 8, for Bookmarks: Winston-Salem’s Festival of Books, enjoys juxtaposing the mundane with the outlandish. She offers suggestions for entertaining older people – “Nobody wants to prechew a roast beef at 4:00 in the afternoon, but these are the concessions you will be making when entertaining the elderly” – and exposing partygoers who peek into your medicine cabinet – “Try filling your medicine cabinet with marbles. Nothing announces a nosy partygoer more successfully than an avalanche of marbles striking a porcelain sink.”
