Tulsa author Michael Wallis will explain the “truthiness” of old roads Wednesday, when he appears on “The Colbert Report,” airing at 10:30 p.m. on the Comedy Channel (Cox Cable channel 61).

Wallis recently published “The Lincoln Highway: Coast to Coast from Times Square to the Golden Gate,” a history of the cross-country highway dubbed “The Father Road.”

It’s Wallis’ second book to chronicle a major American thoroughfare, after “Route 66: The Mother Road,” the 1992 book that rekindled national interest in the highway and the people and places that once lined its path from Chicago to Los Angeles.

His “Route 66” book also served as an inspiration for the Academy Award-nominated fi lm “Cars.” Wallis served as a consultant on that fi lm, and p rovided the voice for the Sheriff character.

“The Colbert Report” is hosted by actor-comedian Stephen Colbert, and is a parody of the political pundit shows that proliferate on cable news networks.
