Tickets available to see Stephen Colbert at the 92nd Street Y

By Ms Interpreted on August 8th, 2007 ·

As we reported earlier this week, Stephen Colbert is scheduled to sign copies of I Am America (And So Can You!) at the YMHA on October 23rd. Evidently, this is a “surprise” appearance. From the New York Daily News (emphasis in original):

Miller-Diddy? Kim-possible!

Stephen Colbert will make what’s supposed to be a surprise appearance at the 92nd St. Y on Oct. 23, we hear. Other greats on the cultural cornucopia’s schedule include James Watson, Alan Greenspan, Larry David, Steve Martin and Ani DiFranco.

Lucky for you Stephen fans who read this blog, it’s no big surprise. While the event still hasn’t been listed on the Y’s website, fellow hero Murasaki writes in to tell let you all know that tickets are now available if you call the Y directly. Try them at (212) 415-5500. Thanks for the tip, Murasaki! As for the rest of you, get on your phones!

Edit: Also, according to Murasaki, the tickets are $35 apiece, plus $4 handling charge and they are assigned seats. So act quickly! -DB

Edit II: I just heard from Andrew Krucoff from the 92nd Street Y and he has this to say about the show:

The Y-Charge number is 212.415.5500. Hours are: Mon-Thu: 9:00am-7:00pm and Fri: 9:00am-5:00pm.
The event is $35 and it’s a reserved seating lecture. (Interactive seating chart here: http://www.92y.org/content/kaufmann_concert_hall.asp ) Lectures/talks usually run from an hour to an hour-and-half. There will be a book signing, in addition to the talk, afterward so anyone with his book will get a chance to meet him.

Tickets are now available by phone and online purchasing will be activated some time overnight by tomorrow morning. There are reduced service fees when ordering online.
