NEW YORK — Four presidential candidates are lined up to visit Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” over the next three weeks as Comedy Central’s satirical news review ramps up its “Indecision 2008″ coverage.

“It’s sort of an open invitation for candidates,” said Michele Ganeless, Comedy Central’s executive vice president and general manager.

“The Daily Show” will travel to the sites of both the Republican and Democratic conventions for a week of shows next summer. “The Colbert Report” will take a road trip to South Carolina around that state’s primary, Ganeless said.

Neither Stewart nor Stephen Colbert will be involved in a politically-themed concert tour that Comedy Central will sponsor next year, but frequent guest Lewis Black will.

Currently the 2008 South Carolina primaries are scheduled for January 29 (Democratic) and February 2 (Republican), although the Republican party is still considering an earlier date. I’m guessing this is set for mid to late January then. Lets hope it’s a week in a big venue – with a pilgrimage to Sticky Fingers Barbecue, of course.

We will, of course, keep you posted.

EDITED TO ADD: This story confirms our tip, reported by No Fact Zone in early July. These four shows are slated for the College of Charleston’s Sottile Theater during the final week of January 2008. We’ll let you know if and when ticket information becomes available. – Ms I

This should be so enjoyable to watch!

On a side-note, does anyone know why tomorrow’s epi is a re-run? I’m just curious.

Hmmm. Maybe. I think, though, that while visiting the White House he said it needed to stay on for four weeks.

Both TDS and TCR were scheduled for repeats this Monday for a few weeks now, so I don’t think it has to do with the cast. Besides, if he didn’t take a day of for getting it, I would doubt he needs a day of to take it off (which, if I remember from personal experience, is much quicker).

Has there been a firmer date set for the dates he’ll be there now that the primary dates have changed? Will it be in between the two primaries?
