Hey there, gentle readers. Although the Colbert-centric news has been on the slow side today, I did notice a few items that may be of interest to you Daily Show, Colbert Report and Strangers with Candy fans.
- Gravid Water will be at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in NY tomorrow night. The website description reads (in part): “New York’s top improvisers take the stage with experienced stage actors in scenes by Horton Foote, David Lindsay-Abaire, Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice (!), et al. The actors will know their lines, and the improvisers will improvise, with no prior knowledge of the scene!” Performers include The Colbert Report‘s Peter Gwinn and The Daily Show‘s Dan Bakkedahl, plus many, many more.
- Her Majesty’s Standup is taking place at the Magnet Theater tomorrow night at 11:00 p.m. “Jon Bander, Dan Gregor and Lucas Held host a bi-weekly show of late night ribaldry in the grand tradition of British fiddle faddle. Sketch, short film and standup from New York City’s top comedians sure to leave you chortling your knickers off, what!” This week’s show welcomes guest performer John Oliver (correspondent, The Daily Show).
- The Sound of Young America notes in its blog that they are accepting reader/listener -submitted questions for “Judge John Hodgman” to resolve. Email your dispute to jesse (@) maximumfun.org and put “Judge John” in the subject line. (By the way, if you’re wondering where you’ve heard the name “The Sound of Young America” before, they were the source of this wonderful podcast with The Colbert Report‘s Allison Silverman from last September.)
- LiveJournal’s Flatpoint High community will be sitting down with Greg Hollimon (also known as Onyx Blackman of Strangers with Candy fame) in an upcoming podcast. Have a question for him? Send it as an mp3 to kickedinthestereopair (@) gmail.com.
[Editor's note: As with most of our tips for performances, we can only report the information as it has appeared online. Therefore, it's a good idea to confirm the performer lineups, showtimes, etc., with the venues themselves. Have a lovely day.]
I don’t know if Dan’s going to show up at Gravid Water- although people should go anyway because it’s a good show- but apparently his wife gave birth a few weeks ago and nobody’s heard from him.

Thanks for the note, Ashe. His name’s still on the UCB page, but this is obviously exactly the sort of reason that calling ahead is a good idea. I appreciate the heads up!

Sorry about that, Jesse! There are times when I really stink at proofreading my own entries . . .

The Sound of Young America is a great podcast, I highly recommend it. Maximumfun.org has other great podcasts too besides TSOYA.
