Category : PressReleaseNEW YORK, June 19 /PRNewswire/ — Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) showcased plans at Licensing 2007 International to create some seriously funny merchandise — guaranteed to either delight or offend virtually every consumer. The Emmy and Peabody-Award winning South Park, already a consumer hit on DVD, apparel and footwear will be expanded into new licensing categories. New merchandising programs will be created for other hit shows in the COMEDY CENTRAL line-up including Mind of Mencia, The Colbert Report, The Sarah Silverman Program, and the recently launched Lil’ Bush.
. . .
In addition to a new The Colbert Report DVD in Q4, product is being planned for both collegiate retailers and bookstore distribution beginning in Spring 2008. The Colbert Report is the number-two most watched cable show in its timeslot with viewers 18-34 and all male viewers. Hosted by The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’s standout correspondent, Stephen Colbert, the Emmy(R)- nominated The Colbert Report features no-holds-barred discussions in which the important topics of our time and the daily news are treated with absolutely no seriousness whatsoever.
Please, let this not be a joke; please, please let there be a DVD!
That’s freaking awesome. I wonder what they will do…

Arrrgh! Sorry, DB. I *did* check to see whether you had started a draft or anything before I put the post together . . .
It’s kind of funny, though. Let there be no mistake about it: We here on the NFZ staff are all about bringing our readers the Stephen Colbert news just as quickly as is humanly possible!

You guys (MSI and DB) are pretty funny when you have moments like these, I have no idea how both of you can get and attempt to publish the same data at the same times but it never ceases to amuse. I sure hope there are DVD’s cause I’d buy crazy fast!

That would be sooo awesome!! And as for DB and MSI, it’s clearly just the collective Colbert mind meld.

I hope this is true. I find it kinda funny that it’s “the number-two most watched cable show in its timeslot with viewers 18-34 and all male viewers.” Based on the demographics I see online, it’s easy to forget the Report has almost any male viewers at all. :P

Forget Colbert, there’s a Mind of Mencia DVD coming out!

Oh please Jesus let Comedy Central finally catch on that people want *good* things to buy!! I’m wondering what would be on the DVD, I hope by DVD they mean more along the lines of DVD *set*. I think they should definitely include all the BKADS and there are about a million other segments that should be preserved for the ages.
I do take offense to their marketing strategy of assuming all the views are males. It just seems like such a dumb idea to essentially ignore the female fanbase who is obviously very dedicated and interested in the show. *grumble*
Oh and while they’re at it, maybe they’ll get with the program and release Exit 57, thus making my life one step closer to being complete.

Daily Show on DVD would be nice, too.

I think what they mean by the statement “the number-two most watched cable show in its timeslot with viewers 18-34 and all male viewers” is that the show is #2 in its timeslot for ALL viewers age 18-34, of either sex; and also #2 in its timeslot for male viewers of any age. Not that the show actually has “all male viewers” and no female viewers. They could have phrased it a little better though.
