For those of you on LiveJournal, I have a syndication feed on the site, nofactzoneblog, that normally works pretty well. But for some reason, it hasn’t picked up a post since May 31st.
I e-mailed Technical Support, who sent me this letter today:
There are a number of syndicated accounts, including “nofactzoneblog”, that are not updating correctly and are displaying with “500 read timeout” errors on the profile. This error occurs when LiveJournal is not able to connect to the server that hosts the feed; even if the feed is updating correctly, LiveJournal is not able to access the feed, and therefore not able to retrieve the updates. In this particular case, the read timeout errors may be (directly or indirectly) related to site access problems that LiveJournal has been experiencing recently.
LiveJournal staff have been informed of the problem, and they are aware that it’s continuing to happen. This problem (along with the other access problems) should be fixed as soon as possible, although there is no way to know when this may be. In the meantime, LiveJournal’s syndication system will continue to try to access the feed, and will update the account when it’s possible for LiveJournal to connect to the host site.
I understand that this situation is frustrating, both for you and for the readers of the syndicated account. Again, LiveJournal staff are aware that this problem exists and is affecting a number of accounts, and they are working on ways to resolve the problem. Your patience in the meantime is appreciated.
So hopefully the issue will be fixed soon. Until then, please continue to visit the main site for your Colbert news, or if you have an RSS feed, you can click on the links in the sidebar to subscribe that way. I personally use Google Reader to keep track of over 60 blogs and news feeds, and I would highly recommend it if you’re into reading blogs. If you want a list of Colbert-related feeds to get you started on your RSS feed system, we have a list on our Web Links page.
EDIT: It looks like the LJ feed is running again, but it’s only going back about a day or so. We posted a LOT of things about the BookExpo America this weekend that didn’t post to LJ, so you might want to check out this category to see all the different reports we have up on the site from the BEA event, including lots of pics, videos, and a few on-the-scene reports from our Senior West Coast Correspondent, WordsWithGrace.
WHAT? It’s a a BEA Blackout! Oh, those poor people!

That’s it. I will have a LJ account by the end of this month.

@Scorpioprodigy:
Well, it *is* free, and I bet you’d see a lot of familar faces. Plus they have some fun groups to join, too, that are Colbert-themed.
