Amy Sedaris is one busy lady these days! Catch her this Thursday in New York as a special guest star of Andy Borowitz’s “Next Week’s News” show.
From the New York Post:
ALL THE NEWS – BEFORE IT HAPPENS
STAND-UP SERIES COMBINES COMEDY AND A CRYSTAL BALL
By MANDY STADTMILLER
May 22, 2007COMEDIAN Andy Borowitz doesn’t just make fun of the news, he “predicts” it.
For example:
“Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky will toss her hat into the ring for the Democratic nomination for president. Ms. Lewinsky will offer herself as an alternative to Hillary, saying, ‘It worked before.’ ”
Sharing this kind of bold prediction as part of a live monthly stage show called “Next Week’s News” – catch it this Thursday at 8 p.m. at Carolines on Broadway with special guest star Amy Sedaris (inset) – Borowitz offers juicy fake headlines from the week ahead. He also quizzes his guests to get their take on future events, as he did at the last show with Arab-American comic Dean Obeidallah.
. . .
Borowitz is especially excited for this week’s show, which also includes comics Todd Barry, Mike Birbiglia and Jon Fisch, because as he says, “One of the big stories is obviously going to be Memorial Day. That is one thing that we’re positive is going to happen.”
Sedaris, who’s become a best-selling author with her inspired hospitality book “I Like You,” will be giving people tips on entertaining while unashamedly wearing white shoes.
“There are too many rules about what you do for Memorial Day,” Borowitz explains. “There are probably a lot of people who are losing sleep about that, so Amy’s going to be there for them.”
Borowitz, whose long line of credits includes serving as creator of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” president of the Harvard Lampoon and humor writer for The New Yorker, is working with his agents to turn the show into a TV series. Why? Quite frankly, he says, there’s a need.
“We now have ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report,’ so how do you do fake news in a way that’s different than the way those guys are doing it?” he asks.
“The one obvious way that I could think of was, well, we’ll just report what hasn’t happened yet.”
Have fun!

Isn’t she supposed to be on Late Night with Conan O’Brien tonight too? She’s really getting around.

I just finished watching Conan. My friends and family always make fun of me because I can relate pretty much any subject to Stephen Colbert. It’s not my fault, he’s everywhere. So I was watching Conan tonight to see Amy and in the monologue Conan made an angry bear joke and the musical guest was Loudon Wainwright III. Three degrees of Stephen Colbert in one show, now I know I am not imagining Stephen’s relevance to everything.
