Saginaw Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau Milks the Colbert Thing Again
BySo I’m doing my daily scouring of news relating to Stephen Colbert and “The Colbert Report”, and I see an article titled “Colbert Named Honorary Member of SVCVB Board“, and I did a double check to see what the date was on the article and it was today. I though, odd, this sounds so familiar.
And then I remembered – we reported about it two months ago.
But apparently now, they have a plaque for Stephen:
[from Spirit Managing Partner Craig Goslin] “If Stephen Colbert (the host of the Colbert Report) himself is unable to attend the SVCVB Board of Directors meetings, maybe we can have Steagle fill in on his behalf. Stephen and Steagle are pretty tight, so we are certain that Steagle would represent him well. The Spirit organization is thrilled to see our community’s passion for our project and for the massive audience of Colbert fans here in the Mid-Michigan community. We look forward to growing our relationship between The Colbert Report, Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle and all of Mid-Michigan.”
…
The appointment includes “all the rights and privileges associated with the position,” according to the swooning group. “Which is a very scary thought,” says John Reiber, chairman of the board. Although stunned, the SVCVB directors seemed confident Mr. Colbert may actually offer direction and, ah, dignity. “Our fingers are crossed,” says President Annette Rummel.
“We are tingling inside to welcome Stephen on our board and are sort of looking forward to his cockamamie Hollywood antics and pretty boy leadership,” says Director of Sports Marketing Penny Bailey for the SVCVB. “His name badge is ready and he can sit at the head of the table if he behaves. ‘Bring it on,’ Mr. Colbert—and welcome to the Saginaw Valley.”
