Book Expo America is less than two weeks away
ByOh, I wish, I wish I could go to this! The New York Sun had an extensive piece on BEA in its Friday paper, and it sounds absolutely delightful.
Lucky for us here at NFZ, our friend WordsWithGrace is in the book “biz”, and she’s promised to give us the skinny on the fun and games from the Expo. She’ll be attending the hot ticket event of the weekend, if BEA Event Director Lance Fensterman’s blog is any indication:
. . . [C]heck out this clip from the Colbert Report about how, “We are winning the war against the literazi’s” as the decline in print coverage of books illustrates – it’s damn funny.
Also, don’t wait to get your tickets for the Saturday morning breakfast at BEA featuring Colbert, Ken Burns, Lisa See and Khaled Hosseini. Tickets are almost sold out and this is shaping up to be the biggest attended author event in BEA history!
Can’t wait to hear your “reporT”, WordsWithGrace! And, for anyone else who’s going, be sure to brush up on your BEA etiquette.

I just purchased my ticket for the Saturday morning breakfast a couple of days ago. The higher-priced tickets (the ones that actually include breakfast) are sold out, but I was able to get a general admission ticket. If anyone attending BEA is still thinking about this event, act soon.

Friend of the site touchofgr3y is attending, too. I won’t be able to attend, even though I’m in the book “biz” myself.

@ Drusilla & anyone else going to Book Expo —
I’d love to connect with you – it would be very cool to meet some friends of the blog in person. And to have some fellow it-getters to squeeee with (in a professional manner, of course). You can email me c/o wordswithgrace@nofactzone.net. :)

Dare I hope that a video clip of his participation will be posted on youtube or somewhere?

Hurrah, so far we have a troika of fangirls, I mean, professional women in the book industry, who will be connecting around Stephen’s breakfast! Any others out there, please give a holler!
I don’t know of any video recording plans, but I know that Book Expo will be posting an audio podcast of the breakfast after the conference for sure, so some vicarious living will be possible (& I bet even those of us there will love hearing it again!).
You can bet we’ll post the link on NFZ as soon as we hear about it!
