April 17th is Ben & Jerry’s “Global Free Cone Day”

Mark your calendars: If you live or work near a Ben & Jerry’s store, you’ll want to enjoy Stephen Colbert’s AmeriCone Dream on “Global Free Cone Day” (Tuesday, April 17th).

According to at least one enthusiast, it will be the ideal way to make your tax filing palatable. [Editor's note: Don't forget that the deadline is the 17th this year, due to the 15th being a Sunday and the 16th being Emancipation Day in DC, Patriot's Day in Massachusetts, etc.]

From the Miami New Times:

Tax Day Gets Licked
And it tastes like rocky road
BY PATRICE ELIZABETH GRELL YURSIK

You can’t escape death or taxes, but at least one of those distinctly depressing prospects will taste a little sweeter today. To delight the beaten masses who must fork over their finances to the IRS by today’s deadline, the good scoopers over at Ben & Jerry’s are hosting the 29th annual Global Free Cone Day!

Last year, the trippy hippy sweet treat sellers gave away more than a million free cones. This year, there are some amazing new flavors, including “crème brûlée and cinnamon buns, which contains caramel ice cream, cinnamon bun dough, and a caramel streusel swirl. We are so down with the swirl! If you happen to miss out on today’s free bonanza, stop by your local Publix for a pint of our favorite new flava, Stephen Colbert’s “Americone Dream.” It’s a rich mix of vanilla ice cream, fudge-covered waffle cone, and caramel goodness. And it’s like sweet truthiness melting on your tongue.

Though I know that it’s not available, I will ask for Americone Dream. I would advise ALL residents of Canada who live close enough to a Scoop Shop to do the same.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0
