Q: I was wondering if anyone affiliated with the Raptors knows about this one-sided feud Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central’s Colbert Report has waged with the Raps! He put them “on notice” because they’re a Canadian team in an American league, and because they lost to a European team (Maccabi Tel Aviv). Now, Colbert has proclaimed that the Raps are “dead to him” because our mascot (the Raptor) beat out his mascot (Steagle Colbeagle of the OHL team Saginaw Spirits) for best mascot honours. It’s quite funny, and a great marketing opportunity if MLSE decides to pursue it!

A: Believe me, if there’s a marketing opportunity, someone somewhere in the monolithic group that is Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment knows about it.

I have seen the YouTube clip; I consider ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’ the greatest hour of daily television in the history of television and I’m just waiting ’til they find a way to either bring Colbert up here or have me on his show. That would be uber-cool.

It’s a funny gig, that stuffed animal battle, and since I’m sure you know my fond feelings for The Chicken here, you know who I’m rooting for.

Oh, it’s not one-sided anymore. Anyone catch the Raptor at Stephen Colbert Day putting Colbert “On Notice?”

    I’m calling it.

Carlton the Bear, for being a vicious nacho-eating polar bear and being The Raptor’s best friend, will be the first to go straight to the “Dead To Me” board.
