Stephen Colbert in the Zeitgeist, part 2 (March 24, 2007)

Just a couple of stories to add to the mix . . .

A new victim rival for the Saginaw Spirit?

  • Will Saginaw Spirit get new rival? – ABC12.com: “[Spirit co-owner Craig] Goslin doesn’t want to disclose who is looking to purchase the team, but he says the Spirit would welcome a close rival.

‘It would be great for us,’ he said. ‘We’d like the … back in the ’70s, when the Gears and the Generals were so popular and had that rivalry.’

Meanwhile, tickets sales for the Spirit playoff games are picking up, and the Spirit’s most famous fan, Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central’s ‘Colbert Report,’ is pumped up.

Colbert continues to make Spirit head coach Bob Mancini one of the more popular junior hockey coaches in North America.

‘I don’t know if I’m the most popular, but I right now I might now be the most seen, which is not a good thing,’ he joked.”
