What makes it “worth the wait” . . .
ByHere’s a mildly amusing article from the Wisconsin State Journal about attending a taping of The Daily Show. The writer’s favorite bit (and mine, based on her description) was watching Jon and Stephen chatting before their “toss”:
Getting our ‘Daily’ dose: Trip to New York City means enjoying a Jon Stewart fix in person

The bit that makes the experience worth the wait is Stewart’s exchange with Stephen Colbert, host of “The Colbert Report,” which follows “The Daily Show” each night. This night is the first after a week off for both Colbert and Stewart, and they spend a few minutes exchanging stories about their respective vacations: Colbert took the family skiing in Utah, Stewart watched a lot of Noggin and ventured out to 14th Street. It’s real, it’s laid-back, it’s impromptu and it’s funny. We’re laughing, even though we’re not being taped, even though we’re not being prompted by the producers.

I love the last line of the article:
“And also, because we’re in this together.”
It’s the leitmotiv of the Nation, I think.

I’m taking a trip to New York in April and attending a taping of the Report for the first time… and I wonder does the audience for the Report get to see the toss as well? I hope so.

Sorry, catimavik, but The Colbert Report audiences don’t get to see the “toss” unless The Daily Show is running really late. It has happened a few times, though, so I wish you luck in catching it.
