You may not recall, but in my introductory bio to this site, I mentioned that I was newly addicted to book signings. With that in mind, you can only imagine my reaction when I saw that Stephen was scheduled for a BookExpo America event. Please, oh please, let me be able to attend this! From BEA Director Lance Fensterman’s blog (emphasis added):
Drum Roll Please! Here are the BEA Author Events For 2007
SATURDAY, June 2, 2007
8:00AM – 9:30AM SATURDAY BOOK & AUTHOR BREAKFAST (Special Events Hall)
Saturday morning will feature Ken Burns, author (with Geoffrey C. Ward) of The War: An Intimate History, 1941 – 1945 (Alfred A. Knopf); Lisa See, author of Peony in Love (Random House); and Khaled Hosseini, author of A Thousand Splendid Suns (Riverhead Books). Stephen Colbert, author of I Am America and So Can You (Warner Books/Hachette Book Group USA) will be the Master of Ceremonies. General Admission: $15. Breakfast Admission: $35.
Wow! They didn’t give him lightweights. Ken Burns is a friend of the show, Khaled Hosseini is the author of the breakout best-seller of a few years ago, “The Kite Runner,” set in Afghanistan, and Lisa See wrote “On Gold Mountain,” a tale of her family’s history set in LA’s Chinatown. Thanks for the exclusive advance notice!

Since the news came out that he was writing a book I’ve been hoping that he goes on tour with it, seeing as how the book’ll come out a few months before I’m 18 and able to go to a taping. Also, seeing as how I’m halfway across the country from NYC. Okay, that’s only somewhat relevant to this, since this isn’t him going on tour with the book, unfortunately, but still.

I’m so there. Not just for Stephen, but for Ken Burns and Paul Krugman (June 2)

They have *finally* added this to their website, and I just registered for it! (BEA is a conference for book-industry professionals.) Look forward to reporting back!
