THE SAGINAW NEWSWhen Stephen Colbert gave the Saginaw Spirit advice, the Spirit took the emmy-winning comedian seriously.
In August, the faux right-wing newscaster on cable television’s Comedy Central told his fans to vote on the Saginaw Spirit Web site to have the hockey team’s new mini-mascot named after him.
About 1,800 votes later, he’s getting his wish. The mini-mascot, Sammy Spirit’s sidekick, will have a Colbert-related name, team officials say.
The video board in TheDow Event Center’s Wendler Arena will play a recorded or live message from Colbert, host of the “The Colbert Report,” at the start of the Saturday, Sept. 30, game.
For those of you in the Saginaw, Michigan area that would like to go to this event, you can get your tickets here. The event will be broadcast on The Colbert Report on or around October 2nd. (Just ask Will Koch how that scheduling thing goes.)
